Meet Our Customer: Lily's Kitchen

For this month's "Meet our Customer" feature we speak to natural and organic pet food pioneers, Lily's Kitchen

How did your company start?
The brand takes its name from our founder, Henrietta Morrison’s Border Terrier Lily who battled with itchy skin and ears due to the low quality processed food she was eating. Like most pet owners, Henrietta was unaware of the detrimental effect Lily’s diet was having on her health. After consulting with her brother, a vet, who analysed the contents of the food, she was shocked by the results and began cooking food for Lily herself. The transformation in her health was remarkable. So she spent two years working together with a range of vets and nutritionists to create the best food for pets, containing wholesome, natural ingredients together with high quality vitamins and minerals.

What is unique about your company?
Lily’s Kitchen has revolutionised the way that cats and dogs eat and has created a nourishing and natural alternative to the mass produced, highly processed products that dominate supermarket shelves which are often packed with the cheapest and lowest quality grade ingredients.  Lily’s Kitchen products are unique in the world – it is the first company to produce and launch grain-free and meal-free foods and only ever uses 100% freshly prepared meat and vibrant fruits and vegetables in its recipes – no unnecessary additives or flavours, rendered meats, animal or vegetable derivatives, fillers or fibrous leftovers.

Who and where are your customers?
Our range is available to canine companions all over Europe, however, most are based here in the UK.  Our customers come in all shapes and sizes from Chihuahuas to Great Danes.

How’s the future looking for you? What are your plans?
We’re constantly coming up with new ideas for extra special recipes and have something very exciting planned for busy dogs on the go – watch this space!

Why do you buy from Organic Herb Trading Company?
We like to select our ingredients from suppliers we know and trust to offer the best quality produce around.  Wherever possible we work with suppliers that work using organic farming methods and those who are dedicated to offering sustainable produce.

Why is organic / provenance important to you?
Organic Farming methods mean better animal welfare, greater wildlife diversity and more protection for the environment overall.  We believe choosing organic foods wherever you can really does make a positive difference, which is why we offer a certified organic range for both dogs and cats in addition to our wholly natural range.

Please tell us one unusual fact!
We launched our very own Santa’s Paws Grotto last year – just for dogs!

What is your favourite cup of tea / or long cool relaxing drink?
It’s got to be chamomile tea, it’s the best relaxation tool.  In fact we love it so much we even use organic chamomile flowers in our Bedtime Biscuits for dogs!
