Organic Herb Trading Converts to Biodynamic Farming
Producing and supplying organic products is the linchpin to everything we do at Organic Herb Trading, and so we are very excited to be building on this and starting the process of becoming a fully certified biodynamic operation. To find out more about what this means, please read on.
Having spent time based on a biodynamic research farm in Northern India, our Herb Field Manager Sarah Weston has developed a keen interest in the practices and philosophies that guide this approach to agriculture. She worked closely with local communities and farmers who were already farming biodynamically, and will now be leading the exciting process as we convert to being a fully certified operation by the end of this year, processing biodynamic products in addition to our Soil Association organic certified items.
The biodynamic approach to agriculture was founded by Rudolf Steiner (1865-1925) and was very much considered a holistic approach – one which helps create stronger connections between the way in which people farm, and their engagement with the land and its natural environment. So what does biodynamic agriculture mean for us, and our customers? Well, we feel that it’s a natural progression that simply reinforces our commitment to best practice and a way of working that complements our focus to always deliver the highest possible quality products. We’ve seen fantastic products from some of our suppliers that have already adopted biodynamic ways of working and are excited to apply these methods to what we do.
