News From The Herb Field: April 2017

We’re very excited as our first Wwoofers of the season have arrived, Friday from Hungary and Morgan from Bristol. It’s great to have them here as there is a lot to do in the herb field!

The poly tunnel is full with seed trays, and the directly sown Calendula and Burdock beds have germinated in the field. We’ve even had to do some watering as the weather has been so lovely and sunny! The ducks are busy gobbling up the slugs so hopefully this year we will have less slug problems. Now we’re busy getting beds ready, weeding, forming and composting for more direct sowing and planting out next month. Everything is growing and coming back to life - especially the weeds which seem to be doing very well!

Some of the herb field herbs were potted up to make a star appearance on our stand at the Natural and Organic Products Europe show earlier this month. We are also growing some plants for The Biodynamic Land Trust for their beds in the Edible beds feature at the Malvern Flower Show.

The first fresh herb orders of the season have gone out. Do get your fresh herb orders in early so as not to be disappointed!
