Tea & Herbal

Tea (Camellia sinensis)

All tea: Black, Green, White, Oolong, Matcha and Pu’erh, originates from the leaf of the plant, Camellia sinensis.

It is the variation of the processing of the tea leaves, combined with the specific growing conditions of a tea garden, that gives us so many different types of tea to enjoy, each with their own unique flavour and character. These processing methods have been refined over hundreds, and in some cases thousands of years. Honed to capture a tea’s ultimate characteristics, which are shaped by the climate, soil type, altitude, timing, and method of harvest.

Working in partnership

We are proud to work in partnership with Tea Promoters India (TPI), and to be UK distributors for Cha Dô.

Tea Promoters India were founded in 1980, with the intention of promoting sustainable tea cultivation through organic, biodynamic and Fairtrade practices. They challenge traditional models of tea production both at a human and ecological level. Pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved through best practice sustainable agriculture and pioneering ethical standards for their employees.

Their truly holistic approach helps them to produce organic teas of the highest quality, always with full transparency and traceability. They have tea gardens across four different regions of India: Darjeeling, Assam, Dooars and South India.

Cha Dô specialise in working at source to bring to market exceptional organic teas that are ethically traded. We carry a range of Cha Dô teas as stock but can also access their full catalogue which includes some very special, limited-edition teas.
